Methodists help clean up malden

Chainsaw teams from the Southeast district, La Croix UMC, New McKendree UMC, and First UMC of Poplar Bluff, and ERT team from Manchester UMC worked with local Malden volunteers to clear fallen trees from the disaster area.

Chainsaw teams from the Southeast district UMC churches have been busy cleaning up tornado debris in Mattthew and Malden, MO.
At this time, we are not calling for help from outside the district.  We will update when the event is ready for rebuilding teams.

EF 2 tornado in malden, mo

Malden, a small town in the bootheel, was impacted with an EF2 tornado, Saturday, February 24.

​The damage impacted nearly 70 houses and four people were transported to hospitals.

According to Malden Police Chief Jarrett Bullock,  the damage was about a mile long and the four injuries are all moderate.
​
An estimated total of $2 million worth of damages is expected and the number could rise, according to Malden Mayor Denton Kooyman.

Donations may be made at City of Malden.
Volunteers will be allowed into the area beginning on Wednesday, February 28.   
Local UMC chainsaw teams will be responding.  Updates on volunteer needs will be posted here as new information is obtained.
